Former Bethlehem police sergeant, DeSales University chief, dies in crash

A retired Bethlehem police sergeant who was once the police chief of DeSales University died in a crash last week, according to authorities.

Retired Sgt. Steven Marshall died after a motorcycle crash Friday afternoon in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Bethlehem police said in a social media post. Marshall was with the department July 1988 until July 2010, when he retired.

He was named , and had since retired.

Marshall was riding west on Sea Mountain Highway when an SUV hit him, .

He was taken to a hospital, where he died from his injuries hours later, the report states. The driver of the SUV, a 36-year-old woman, was charged in the crash, according to the report.

“His dedication, professionalism, and commitment during his more than two decades of service left an indelible mark on our department and all who had the privilege of working alongside him,” Bethlehem’s post reads in part.
