Enjoy free frozen yogurt, gift card giveaways and more when a South Whitehall Township frozen yogurt cafe holds a grand reopening under new ownership later this month.

Yofresh Yogurt Cafe will host the event at noon May 31 at 4642 Broadway, owner Allyson Wasielewski said.

Attendees can get 4 ounces of free frozen yogurt if they sign up for the rewards program, she said, and can also expect attractions like prize giveaways and face painting.

The cafe, which sells frozen yogurt, ice cream, dairy-free sorbet, gelato and rolled ice cream, originally opened in 2012 under Alli Lipson and Sue Israel before Kelly and Rick Maveric took over about a year later.

Wasielewski, who became the owner May 6, said she started working at the cafe just under seven years ago, handling machine cleaning, products and the cash register.

“I love this place, so when [the Maverics] were thinking about retiring, they approached me and they thought I would be a good candidate for ownership,” she said. “So I sat on the idea and ultimately decided to go through with it. It’s been nice, being a worker and then turning into an owner, because most of the customers already are familiar with me and I know most things about the yogurt shop already, how it works and all that.”

Upcoming changes customers can look forward to include updated windows and upholstery, a digital menu on the wall and new beverages like sodas.

The shop may also bring back milkshakes and smoothies, Wasielewski added.

The cafe operates noon to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
