UPDATED:

The Trump administration has given notice to more than 500 jurisdictions across the country — including 16 in Pennsylvania — that it considers them to be obstructing federal immigration enforcement.

The Department of Homeland Security on Thursday published a which includes states, counties and cities. While Pennsylvania as a state did not make the list, more than a dozen cities and counties across the commonwealth did.

“These sanctuary city politicians are endangering Americans and our law enforcement in order to protect violent criminal illegal aliens,” DHS Secretary Kristi Noem said in a news release.

Factors determining which counties made the list included compliance with federal law enforcement, information restrictions, and legal protections for illegal aliens, according to the release, which notes the list “can be reviewed and changed at any time and will be updated regularly.” Jurisdictions on the list will receive a formal notification of their alleged non-compliance, Noem said.

The list was mandated by an executive order President Donald Trump signed April 28. The administration has repeatedly targeted communities, states and jurisdictions that it says aren’t doing enough to help Immigration and Customs Enforcement as it seeks to make good on Trump’s campaign promises to remove millions of people in the country illegally.

Under the executive order, states or local jurisdictions on the list would face the suspension or termination of any any grants or contracts they have from the federal government.
