UPDATED:

The СŷƵ was spared from severe weather like damaging winds and lighting following a Friday night storm, but most of the region saw between one to two inches of rain and some waterways are at risk of flooding.

The inches of rainfall cap off the wettest May on record for the region, with 8.71 inches of rain from May 1 through 28.

The СŷƵ was under a flood watch until midnight Saturday. As a result of the rainfall, some of the rivers in Lehigh County continue to rise, putting them at a risk of getting to the flood stage. According to Patrick O’Hara, meteorologist at the National Weather Service office in Mount Holly, New Jersey, Spring Creek in Trexlertown is continuing to rise and could flood.

“We will probably see this in the daytime, rivers will go up for a while, then crest, go back down,” O’Hara said.

On its Facebook page Saturday morning, the City of Allentown announced that Cedar Beach Pool is closed today due to flooding in its parking lot. The city also cautioned visitors that some areas of Cedar Beach Park are “swampy and slick.”

Much of the more severe effects of the storm were felt south of the СŷƵ; some areas of Maryland were under a tornado warning through 8 p.m. Friday.

The СŷƵ could see some isolated thunderstorms Saturday afternoon, according to the forecast, though no severe weather alerts have been issued.
