
Two teenagers from Northampton County are facing charges after police from Greenwich Township, New Jersey, were called after someone heard shots fired Saturday night.
According to the Warren County prosecutor’s office, police responded to Dumont Drive and Hamilton Road in Greenwich in response to a 911 call around 10:45 p.m. During an investigation, police found an assault rifle, armor-piercing ammunition and a large-capacity magazine. A person was observed fleeing from the scene.
Police said no one was hurt and there was no property damage.
The youths, ages 14 and 17, each face four weapons charges.
The 14-year-old was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, possession of prohibited weapons and devices, and possession of a large-capacity magazine.
The 17-year-old was charged with conspiracy/unlawful possession of a weapon, conspiracy/possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, conspiracy/possession of prohibited weapons and devices, and conspiracy/possession of a large-capacity magazine.
Both youths are detained pending a preliminary hearing before a family court judge, according to the prosecutor’s office.
The Phillipsburg Police K–9 unit and the prosecutor’s office assisted Greenwich police with the investigation.
