Two men were killed and a woman was critically hurt in an overnight shooting in Shenandoah, according to State Police.
Troopers gave this account:
The incident occurred at about 1 a.m. on Thursday in a home at 307 W. Center St.
A woman with a connection to that residence but who was not there at the time called police after receiving a text that “everyone is dead” in the home.
Borough police from Shenandoah, Mahanoy Township, West Mahanoy Township and Frackville responded and forced their way into the home.
A young juvenile inside said that he needed help, and that “Daddy just shot mom and granddad.”
In searching the home, police found an older deceased male dead on a first-floor couch.
Officers heard a gunshot from the second floor and went upstairs, where they found another man dead and a woman critically hurt.
The two deceased men and the injured woman had all suffered gunshot wounds.
The woman was flown to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, where she was in the ICU Thursday morning.
The major case team of the State Police was activated and is leading the investigation, which continues.
The names of the victims were being withheld pending notification of family members, and no further information was immediately available on what occurred, according to Trooper Ethan Brownback, public information officer.
State Police consider the incident isolated and said that there is no danger to the public.
The major case team is being assisted by specialty units within the State Police and the Schuylkill County Coroner’s office.
Dr. David Moylan, coroner, said Thursday morning that he was preparing to do postmortem CT scans on the victims at the Schuylkill County Forensic Center in New Philadelphia.
This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
