A Bethlehem man could spend the rest of his life in prison after a Lehigh County jury convicted him of sexually assaulting a child between 2013 and 2017, according to authorities.
Ronald Haberstumpf, 78, was found guilty Tuesday of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, aggravated indecent assault of a child, unlawful contact of a minor, indecent assault of someone younger than 13, corruption of minors and endangering child welfare, according to Lehigh County District Attorney Gavin Holihan.
Haberstumpf was found guilty on all charges following a one-day trial. The charges are all felonies.
He repeatedly sexually assaulted the victim in a Bethlehem home while the victim was between 4 and 8 years old, the DA said in a news release. Haberstumpf knew the victim.
The DA said he faces a sentence of 50-101 years in prison, and he will be required to register as a sex offender.
Bethlehem police initially charged Haberstumpf in June 2024. He has been in Lehigh County Jail since his arrest, according to court records.
Sentencing is scheduled for December.
