A cold front is expected to bring rain and lower temperatures this week in the СŷƵ after several warm days.
Rain is likely Tuesday into Wednesday, while highs will drop into the 60s by mid-week, according to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, New Jersey.
Above average highs, in the 80s, were recorded in the region over the weekend, and those are expected to continue through Tuesday. The cold front is expected to bring about an inch of rain and much cooler weather more typical of early autumn.
Outside of Wednesday, the rest of the week should be clear, with lows in 40s and even 30s. Meteorologists with the local forecast office wrote that there could be rain Saturday night. They noted the weekend forecast is still uncertain.
The rain expected this week comes during a relatively dry period for the СŷƵ. Rainfall was below normal the last three months, according to weather service data.
The U.S. Drought Monitor, which tracks and displays drought conditions throughout the country, said almost all of the СŷƵ is under “abnormally dry” conditions.
