One woman is dead following a single-vehicle crash early Sunday in Bethlehem Township.

A Bethlehem Township police officer discovered the vehicle had crashed with two trees about 2:07 a.m. near William Penn Highway and Chipman Road

The passenger, a woman from Easton, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police, who said her identity would be withheld until the Northampton County coroner’s office releases it.

The driver, a 31-year-old man from Easton, was taken to a hospital.

The crash investigation closed the road for approximately four hours.

Police said they determined the vehicle was “traveling eastbound on William Penn Highway and left the roadway to the north, crossing the opposing lane of travel, and collided with two trees.”

The crash remains under investigation. Those who witnessed the crash or saw the vehicle before the crash are asked to contact Cpl. Lindsay at 610-814-6411.

Bethlehem Township Volunteer Fire Company, Nancy Run Fire, Bethlehem Township EMS, Easton police and the Northampton County coroner’s office assisted Bethlehem Township police at the crash site.
