UPDATED:

Residents will have until the end of the month to give their input into a proposed bridge project in Northampton County set to start in 2027.

PennDOT said residents can submit their questions and concerns about the replacement of the bridge that carries Lower Saucon Road (Route 2001), over the East Branch of Saucon Creek in Lower Saucon Township. The current bridge, constructed in 1930, is 33 feet long and 21 feet wide, and is in poor condition.

The proposed bridge will be a 45-foot, single span, box beam bridge, according to PennDOT. There will be a roughly 6-mile car detour and a nearly 9-mile truck detour while the project is done. Work is expected to start in spring 2027 and finish later that year.

About 850 vehicles travel the road daily.
